My name is Michelle Styles and I have been a brand Ambassador for ‘Horses at Home’ for several years.  As an older rider, I still manage to ride and prep my own horses for the shows. I live on a lovely little property in Burra NSW just out of Canberra.

I like to mix up my competitions by competing in several disciplines such as Show Riding, a little bit of Dressage and Breed Shows.

My current show team consists of my one Welsh Sec C, one Welsh D and a rising 3yr old Arabian Pony/Part Welsh. I really enjoy competing at Ag shows, High Level Welsh Shows and Royal Shows. Over the past 40 years of competing, I have had much success at State, Royal and National Level.

I have had great success within the show ring with the biggest achievement being awarded the International Champion Welsh Cob Gelding class at the 20th International Welsh Show held at SIEC in November 2019 and Runner-up Supreme Ridden Section C Welsh Pony of Cob Type at the Australian Ridden Welsh and Part Welsh Championships which was held at the International Welsh Show.

Not to go unmentioned, other major achievements have been very successful wins at Canberra Royal Show, State Breed Shows and local Ag shows with the following results;

‘Nawarrah Park Time Traveller’ aka Marty (Section D Welsh Cob) has been extremely successful at State and Royal level achieving many Supreme Champion, Champion and Reserve Champion Led and Ridden Welsh.  I also compete Marty as an Open Hunter with many Champion Led, Champion Ridden and Supreme Led and Ridden Awards to date.‘Nawarrah Park Poptastic’ aka Poppy (Sec C Welsh Pony of Cob Type) has also been extremely successful at State and Royal level achieving many Supreme Champion, Champion and Reserve Champion Led and Ridden Welsh awards.

The baby of the team (LLB Marley) has only just started his show career with a few Champion Led Part Welsh accolades to his resume and will soon head off to be broken in.

I have been a ‘Horses at Home’ customer and Brand Ambassador for many years now and with so many of their rugs in my collection it’s hard to choose my favourite.

The quality of these rugs is outstanding from the Cotton Rugs to the Winter Combos.

If I had to choose a favourite, it would have to be the Winter rug collection as they are very roomy, light weight, extremely warm, hard wearing and quick drying when they get wet.  Having all these good traits, you don’t need to overload your horses/ponies with extra rugs, and I also get more than one season due to the quality.

Having Welsh Cobs, it can be hard to find rugs to fit these chunky boys, but Horses at Home cater for all types and shapes.

When the show season starts our favourite rug changes to the white cotton ripstop rugs, the cotton show sets and the summer mesh rugs!”
